About Us
Sherry Bernie is an abstract expressionist artist. Born and raised in Colorado, received her bachelors in Applied Arts. Worked as a Graphic Designer for years. Moved to San Francisco with her husband and worked as an Art Director at a small design studio. Moved to the south 15 years ago, received her Masters of Art Education from Auburn University in Montgomery, taught for a few years and decided to dedicate her time to her art. She now lives at Lake Martin in Dadeville, Alabama with her husband of 28 years and their two daughters who attend Auburn University. Sherry has been an artist from the beginning. Always drawing, painting, and experimenting. Her biggest influence was her grandmother who was a watercolor painter. She started off painting and will still paint from time to time for friends. But her love is GLASS.
It all started with cutting and melting wine bottles, creating recycled art. "There is something about changing the original shape of a bottle...I think it is the look on the peoples faces when they realize it used to be a bottle. I love it!" "I am constantly looking for other ways to use a bottle, just ask my girls."
Her fused pieces are full of movement and color. She does commission work that is as simple as a bowl on a table to as complicated as a cabinet door insert. These glass pieces are perfect and will compliment any decor and budget.
She has experimented with other types of glass and has produced what is called Gâché Glas™. These pieces are very organic and extremely unique. No bowl is the same.
